Miracles from the soup kitchen… feed the world with Shankari…

I have been away from Hawaii for months…
I have a lot of diverse interests and responsibilities.

On my return to the islands I went up to Orchid Parkway for a quick look, to see if everything had survived my absence, before I collapsed into my need for rest.shankari_garden1

I was completely jet lagged and a little delirious from exhaustion that first afternoon as I scurried from the fig tree to the orange trees, Loquat, Avocados and the corn — it was waste high in the center of the first sacred circle I have built on the property… all was well.

I went on down the hill, home to my place, to finally have a good rest.

Today I finally returned to begin to work once more on my vision for a sacred garden and a soup kitchen set up in service to the local community.
When I arrived, I was astounded to discover that while I have been traveling and agonizing over the fate of the world… the sweet corn was growing! This is a miracle!

The corn is growing in about 3 inches of earth on a lava slab in the desert of Ka’u County Hawaii.
This doesn’t sound amazing but think of the miracle that happens every time you plant a seed of any sort!

The sweet corn is laden with ‘ears’ — which is an interesting metaphor under the circumstances… and these ears are as sweet as you have ever tasted!

Metaphorically the work of feeding the community has already begun… the builders told me they have been happily eating from the source since I have been gone… in service to the community… does mean everyone!shankari_garden2

I am sooo excited by the project… and willing to share the dream with whoever comes my way and wants to contribute with love and compassion… I have a dream that the soup we make will be the most delicious and healing soup in the world!

The corn, the figs, the tomatoes… there is evidence I have already enrolled help from the Fairy Kingdom and the Angelic realm… miracles appear every day…

Perhaps you will be my next miracle?

If there is anyone out there who would like to join in the fun please contact Lily here in the Hawaii office at 808 929 7564 or send an email to feedtheworld@shankari.com

I am tired of doing it alone and it’s time to stand up and ask for help.
Please help me… there I have said it!

I believe in Gardening!

I know that sounds crazy.

What’s not to believe?

Gardening is real, you don’t have to believe in it to make it true….

shankari's bali boutiqueWhat I mean is… when I look back over my life at the times when I have been the most depressed, or felt displaced, as a natural instinct I would work in the garden to soothe my soul…

Soon enough, I would be having such a good time, I would forget to be depressed and focused on what Mother Nature and I, were creating together.

I remember once being terminally depressed, looking out the window every day,  imagining what would happen if I threw myself out into the abyss… always coming to the conclusion it was simply not high enough and I would get to the bottom and look like an attention seeking fool…

After my worst day I simply had enough…

I ordered a ton or rocks and recreated my backyard.
I planted flowering trees and shrubs, succulents and daisies.
With every moment that my hands were in the earth, my mind was relaxed and my spirit began to heal.

In the end because I had focused my attention on the earth instead on my negative emotions, I had added value to my environment. I brought my mind to rest and my spirit found peace.

As an outcome, I grew more joyful every day. My family was happier and our combined energy began to grow in a new and creative direction.

If you want to ground all that negative energy you carry around… worry, anxiety, fear, grief, resentment, overwhelm, etc….

Take the opportunity to work in the earth…

If you want to set your spirit free…  grow some flowers, plant some vegetables… design a magical environment…

My gardens are all over the world now… I am pleased to say…
Places of peace and beauty…

That’s true Alchemy…

To take one group of energies and through the addition of something secret and special that only you … the alchemist… can provide, you have the power to change your world and the experience the world has of you.

You have the power to alchemize your own depression into a healing force upon the earth.

I am a garden Alchemist, not unlike Rebecca, as I have written about before…

To work with the earth is a blessing… through the gift of the Divine Mother we have the power to transform our world, one plant at a time….

To give up the need for self destruction and depression, transforming the energy into something of beauty and balance that then goes on to feed your spirit day in and day out… a reflection of your relationship with the Divine Mother of All Creation

Grow your own food if you can… it doesn’t take much to have a fresh salad available from your own garden every night….

Become your own healer, learn to ground your negative energy into the earth and have it return to you as Roses!

Why not?
It’s a lot less expensive than the alternative!

Lessons I receive from the earth

Have you ever noticed that the energy and actions we take in our lives are constant metaphors for the larger world around us?

And in some way more clearly describes what’s going on inside us than our words can speak.

I am in Hawaii, it’s the last day of Spring and there’s ‘dead wood’ every where… on the ground, still connected to the mother trees, old stumps… there were dead cars all over the lot, happily it’s clear now… removed over the past month by a blessed man named Aaron, who is providing this service as a gift to the community… now its just dead wood… twigs, branches, logs, and piles of dead leaves…. everywhere…

I’m collecting it in bundles to throw into the volcanic crack in the earth nearby for compost… I am feeling wonderful.

It’s tedious work, I wear big thick gardening gloves so my hands are not ripped apart by the sharpness of the bark… and close my eyes as the leaves fall and the twigs stick in my hair. I have thick socks to prevent the bugs from feeding on my ankles and sunglasses to prevent eye damage from the dust and funk that’s falling from the trees as I clean them and myself of ‘dead wood’ and prepare for an abundant harmonious future.

I am feeling lighter and lighter as the sunlight pours into the garden… the orchids have already begun to flower.

The sense of death and abandonment is lifting from the environment with each bundle of dead wood. I am changing with each bundle…  my life, I am clearing out the ‘dead wood’… I feel it in every cell of my being.

I’ve concluded that everything in my life I can describe as ‘dead wood’ must become useful! It’s not a matter of abandoned or denial, but rather of integration, inclusion and the alchemization of all my resources into useful service to the earth … Useful, that is my quest, to find all the ‘dead wood’ zones in my whole life and alchemize them into resources.

Through breath, art, meditation and creativity all the answers are given in the stillness.

I have affirmed this over the past few days in the garden on the corner of Sea Breeze and Orchid.
I began this project thinking it would be hard to love because of the rubbish… piles and piles of rubbish, like a microcosm of the world…

Then I realized that everything is really useful if put in it’s rightful place… it’s not that I don’t have enough resources, its that I have to be creative, rearranging and reactivating the resources in a different way.

This applies to my physical resources and my spiritual resources. The old rotting stumps are not rubbish… they are perfect for growing orchids… and the twigs and tiny branches burn hot and clean in the barbecue … there is plenty of space to create a good compost heap and grow lots of food.

There is already an orange tree a beautiful pineapple and Chinese Gooseberry bushes laden with fruit. I have planted three mulberry trees, a coffee tree, a Loquat tree, gardenias, spring onions, parsley, spinach, and phenyl… oh yes and three fig trees and two Jacarandas… one either side of the driveway.

Today some friends helped and we built a bar b q out of local stone called po’hoi’hoi… beautiful word isn’t it… the Hawaiians have as many words to describe rocks as the Eskimos do snow! (About 25 words)

So in celebration of this moment of birth… the birth of my book “Doing it with the Divine… why be a beggar for love?” and the commencement of building here on the corner of Orchid and Sea Breeze in Ocean View Hawaii…

We are having a party on Friday evening the first day of Summer, Beltane, the 1st of May… and exactly 2 months later on the 1st of July, for those of you who would like to join me in Hawaii for a weekend.

Talk about throw a party..!

Full moon in Leo… with an eclipse!

Did  you celebrate?

We did, at the Mystery School in Hawaii! I had all my friends and students over and we danced under the stars to welcome the magnificent full moon, it was breathtaking. Swinging to Stevie Wonder on what appears to be the edge of the world and watching the sunset and the moon rise at exactly the same moment. …. It made me think ……

when humans are fighting over the earth we are as ants discussing who owns an elephant…

Our planet is a jewel in the universe… to be treasured not trashed by her custodians.
The feeling of spaciousness hits everyone as they enter the property. Impacted by the beauty and natural wonder of this oasis over looking the sea, deep in the lava desert of the Ka’u Coast, Big Island Hawaii. I am constantly in joy, looking out into the infinite sky above the silvery grey line of the horizon… the power of the earth is undeniable here… where a lava flow can take your house or a hurricane could simply blow you away.

I had a very important revelation throughout the day that made my celebration even more exciting last night. … I have struck earth on my land! I have a back acre I am preparing to turn into a food forest along the principles of perma-culture The area has been barren and wind swept for as long as I have been here, nothing can grow because there is no earth, just raw lava. There is no water, just a heavy dew that’s blown away by the fifty mile an hour trade winds that are frequent and unrelenting.

BUT…. Today as the back hoe was digging the deep trenches to plant in away from the force of the wind we found pockets of real earth! Talk about throw a party! I wanted to fall to my knees in gratitude. It’s hard to imagine a place with no earth if you have never been here. It’s hard to imagine anything really… that’s why the people with vision are often lonely and ungrounded.
I have literally discovered a deep dark warm space where anything will grow, when I thought there was none. . I feel that’s true inside myself as well as inside the earth here.  I feel it is symbolic of a new type of creativity we are being ask to uncover within ourselves, close to the earth, simple and true to the laws of nature.

Blessings to you all this full moon.

May you have a good belly laugh before the week is over!
Blazing tales of wonder remembering all we have ever been and are about to become.
