Food shortages… or manipulation of the public?

In Hawaii, over the last few months, late at night, I have had the privilege of watching satellite TV. I often wonder at the advertising… pharmaceuticals in all their forms, to help with every bodily function we have apparently lost control over… it’s scary!

Along with this type of advertising lately, there has been a lot of focus on the poor in America. They show photos of hungry unkempt children and say 1 in every 8 Americans go to bed hungry every day.

Who is this in your community?

What can you do to help? I heard the call… There really are a lot of hungry people in the district… that part is true!

Even though I am not an American, I feel for all humanity… what can I do to help?
I decided to build a soup kitchen in Hawaii to try to help the hungry with homegrown food from my garden for soup and salad.

Shankari's GardenI have purchased the land and this project is underway right now. I expect to be serving soup by June 11 next year.

This is the birthday of the King of Hawaii and a great date to aim at for our local humanitarian purposes.

When I recently returned to Bali; in the silence of my studio, catching up on world events; I felt like a pawn in a much bigger and ugly game after reading in the issue of Newsweek Magazine dated, Feb 23, 2009, page 39 (online version of original article):

During the Depression years of hunger, the New Deal ordered the slaughter of 6 million pigs. The theory (see President Roosevelt’s May 14, 1935, speech on the Agricultural Adjustment Act) was, believe it or not, that one cause of the Depression—in 1935, were people selling apples on the streets; 20.1 percent were unemployed— it was a “problem of overproduction.” Government, FDR said, could keep production and consumption “in reasonable balance” so that farmers could charge “reasonable prices,” as the Government intuited them. Last week Congress was importuned to have the government pay for the slaughter of dairy cattle in order to raise milk prices. Cows should die in Wisconsin so that mothers in Watts will pay a higher price—one that government deems “reasonable”—for milk for their children? The dairy lobby sees opportunity in a New Deal 2.0.

These people have no compassion, no imagination and no sense of flow for the greater good of all people. They are only interested in profit! No wonder 1 in 8 people go to bed hungry each night… There is no one out there who has enough power to think outside the box and make a big enough difference!

I am a firm believer in The Sermon on the Mount.
Jesus affirmed that we were important to God and we would always have enough.
Everything is available to support us and our purpose on earth.
We simply have to have the eyes to see, and the hearts that listen.

Those pigs could have fed a lot of people… and the milk cows???

Perhaps the way milk is handled these days, it’s not the best of foods for anyone, let alone small children, however… who can deprive a hungry child of food? Apparently the government of Wisconsin with the approval of the Feds. When will we wake up as a global culture and realize we have been farmed?!

The more I observe, the more certain I am of this sad fact.
The drug companies make money out of a sickly community.
The food companies (who are subsidiaries of the drug companies) make sure the food is corrupted and will not truly feed and heal the sickly community… who must be kept alive until their last breath, by the medical profession, so every last cent can be drained from their existence.

The true enemy is within and has the rules of the game on their side 100%…

It is time to step outside the provided box.
It is time to demand a different lifestyle.

One that will support us in health and true wealth which is ‘time for self’ and opportunities for creativity, good food and genuine nurturing by your own community.

What about pity?

This is a serious word and a heavy energy.
I often sit and ponder words, I let the sound roll around in my mouth and my mind…
I let go of all preconceptions and listen.

Empower Yourself!Because I have spent so much time in foreign countries, learning and speaking foreign languages on the street… not in formal institutions, I often feel the rules academia apply to words and their origins are unnecessarily formal — they express the patriarchal perception that we have been living with for the past few thousand years.

Words on the street are phonetic and emotive….

I remember when I first arrived in Bali, we drove past a hand written sign hanging outside a shop… it stated in bold hand painted print ABIS.

I read that sign, flying past in my jeep and knew what they were saying.
They were out of whatever their customers were looking for.
Abyss in our language means ‘the end’… ‘the dark unknown place, where there is nothing left!”…

In this culture the word had been spelled phonetically and described the absence of a type of food the locals love to eat!

Through common usage, words take on new meanings and their connotation changes with every day that passes.

A perfect example to explain this phenomenon is ‘gay’…

Not so long ago it described people having fun together… I have heard it used by news reporters in Australia from the 1950’s. Through slang usage, ‘gay’ has metamorphosed into the word that describes the entire subculture and political movement for one-sex partnerships!

That’s quite a journey of evolution; perhaps just as strange as a word used in the west to describe the nothingness just before purgatory… ‘the abyss’ … transferred by the Dutch to Indonesia and a few hundred years later it is used to describe the absence of soup!

There are a few words that make a strange family in our language of today… sympathy, empathy, pity, pathetic… they all have an element where you are asked to ‘feel sorry for’ …

In Latin ‘path’ (Pathetic…sympathetic… ) means “feeling”; from ‘pax’ which means peace…

I can see straight away these words are from a patriarchal culture because they are using the prefix ‘pa’ from ‘pater’… father,  (Pa triarchal) the church fathers (not the mother) made the rules and we agreed to make them ‘right’.

We are living in strange times.  The media has a huge hold on the conscious reality we all ‘enjoy’ or ‘endure’ on a daily basis… the media is owned and operated by the big five, so if you want an original thought you have to look outside the box. You and I are a child of our times… an enlightened time, when we can gather all this information together and make some sense of what’s going on…

So let’s look at the word ‘pity

We can tell it’s Anglo in origin.
Lots or pits in the UK… mostly coal and tar…

I feel in my bones that ‘pity’ describes something or someone ‘in the pits’ (which is still a term we use today to describe depression… or a low emotional condition).

Do we want to encourage ‘pitiful’ self-definition?

Should we have ‘pity’ on others?

‘Pity’ like it’s origins, describes a low energy, dark, deep and dirty like a coal pit.

It does not describe the object as much as it describes the mentality of the speaker…

I suggest you activate compassion (‘com’… together) for the world around you and give up all forms of ‘pity’ because by definition to feel ‘pity’ is to put yourself ABOVE the other…

Once you are ‘up there’ and the object of your attention is in their rightful place DOWN THERE then you are in control and your ego is in charge… probably planning an exhaustive emotional drama for the evening ahead, so it can feel alive and in control…

“Pity” is an arrogant, domineering, perspective, which it is best to leave at home, as it will get you into trouble.

Everyone is finally growing up and realizing we are indeed all worthy of equal opportunities and equal protection…
I mean… how did they get ‘in the pit’ to need ‘pity’ in the first place?

Competition and Living in Joy Part 2

I am living in joy, genuinely happy….

This should not be so, I should be panicking,
I should be in fear of failure, but rather, I am in a kind of ecstasy…

shankari_twitterWhen I examine my situation more closely I realize the difference in my emotional body is the ‘co’…. (that means) ‘together’.

Like most people,
I’ve been lonely in a crowd all my life…
Worried about what others think of me …
Have I worked hard enough?
Have I given enough?

Have I said the right thing to get approval… to feel like I belong?

Now everything is different, I have evolved through experience and disaster.
I have no doubt as to my purpose and my source of joy.

I feel loved and supported by my friends and neighbors as a human being.
I feel loved by the Divine on every level, and I know now, there is absolutely nothing I have to prove to anyone about anything ever again!

THAT my friend…is real freedom!

I am doing my best.
I believe in myself and my mission…
I am ready and willing to experience more joy, more freedom and more abundance.
I share all that I am with no hesitation, in service to the earth and her children… my children…
My family.
Of humanity…
Your family… Our family…
I am ready to allow others to be as competitive as they wish without engaging in the dance…
Let them be…

I am ready to live in joy and let the good times roll!

The ‘good times’ don’t have much to do with money, nor anything physical, ‘the good times’ are inside you, just open the door…

Because it’s now or never!

Let’s give up competition and take up cooperation… on a global scale.
Let’s give up criticism and take up unconditional love of ourselves and each other.

Why not?
Do you have something better to do?

Competition… Transformation… Cooperation…

There is only one person worth competing against and that’s yourself!
As the ‘Desiderata’ says,

“there will always be those higher and those lower, those more successful and those less successful than yourself… so don’t fret… relax!”

Ultimately it is about context…
You can reign in hell or serve in heaven, it’s up to you and your choice of activities and venue.

I have recognized in myself recently a new frequency of ‘Being’.
I am a very competitive soul…
I have always been proactive and enthusiastic for success at every level.

The shift has occurred at a profoundly deep level.
I have come to realize I am genuinely happy!

In terms of competitiveness, I am so happy,
I feel as if I have won the biggest prize available!
Not because of a person, business or relationship, but because I have found this place inside myself that is absolutely content.

I feel as if I have already won, so now there is nothing left to do but help everyone else!

All my past competitiveness is somehow transformed into a new vehicle of experience.
All my creativity is enthusiastically focused on how to help other people and survive the coming world challenges with Grace.

This is not because I suddenly have more money; on the contrary, like everyone else today, my cash flow has dried up to a large extent…

I have to recreate myself and my business in order to survive.
Like the world around me,
I am in a state of upheaval and challenged at every level, however I can also say…
despite all this,
I am ecstatically happy and even content!

This is not because I feel loved and accepted by a human beloved… on the contrary, I haven’t been so alone in my whole life; since the disgraceful way my last marriage dissolved, I feel no need to go there again in the near future…

So what’s happening?

I feel filled up with ‘The Holy Spirit’…
I feel as if I am dancing with Krishna…

I have found that ‘frequency of being’ inside myself…
the place that is:

Joyful in the face of chaos…
Trusting in the face of universal deception…
Inspired in a context of fear and…
Enthusiastic in the face of hopelessness…

I must be crazy!

Or… coming into alignment with the ascension process… surrendering my need for applause from the gallery and giving up all sense of competitiveness…
Now is the time for co operation, co-creation and co-mmunity…

The ‘co’… means ‘together’… we will not survive into the future if we act alone… we must work together for the benefit of all… not for our nuclear family or our little local clubs, not for the survival of our country, our religion or our race… but for the survival of our PLANET!

to be continued…

The need for Greed…

It’s one of the seven deadly sins for a very good reason!

Greed kills joy and prevents us from experiencing true unconditional love! Now that… IS really deadly!

Greed…
It’s not our natural state… it has it’s origins in a belief in ‘lack’.
The very thing the Master teacher, Jesus was talking about in the Sermon on the Mount…

Our need for ‘Greed’ comes down to our lack of trust in our worthiness to be loved as individuals.
Greed arises when we live with the false idea… “there’s not enough”…

Not enough love, not enough time, not enough resources, not enough space…

The gaping world of not enough, breeds the energy of greed…  expressed in every aspect of our world.

This is a BELIEF and has nothing to do with what IS.

There are very rich people who are far more greedy than people that have found themselves to be poverty stricken … this is not a numbers game it is an energy game about contentment, satisfaction and trust.

The practice of GREED is built on the belief that…  “I don’t trust that I have ‘enough’… love, money, space’ etc…. so I manipulate circumstances to my advantage so I can have more than anyone else…. This will keep me safe and make me feel loved!”…
Of course this is not true, but we can make it so if we work hard enough at it!

There is a lot of evidence that the practice of ‘greed’ is at the heart of our world challenges today…

As a global race we must refocus our attention to:

“WHAT GENUINELY SUPPORTS PEOPLE TO HAVE A WORTHY, COMFORTABLE LIFE”…
rather than “WHAT SUPPORTS THE FEW TO MAKE THE MOST PROFIT FROM THE MANY… AT THE COST OF COMMUNITY WELL BEING.” …

I often find myself pondering this shift in conscious direction we must take as a global nation.

Things are changing…

My prayer is…

“May we each live a life, filled with joy and creativity… Certain of the Love of the Divine…
Ready every moment and willing to “receive unlimited wealth for infinite possibilities…
Right now!”

To give abundantly and receive abundantly on a daily basis is within the natural order of life on earth… the minute we stop interfering and get out of the way… we are available for miracles, the miracle of Balance, Trust and Love in a fine harmony, called healthy community….

I’m ready… are you?
So what’s stopping us?

You are loved

You know those people who seem to talk all the time? Why do you think they do that?

It is really very simple… they are afraid of being unheard!

It works as a self fulfilling prophesy because you stop listening after the second or third time they say something. This way they get to be correct that they are unheard and ignored… or even, invisible…!

It’s true. There are some people who are afraid if they stop talking, they’ll disappear completely into the chaos of their minds.

There are some veterans around here in Hawaii, who seem to need to talk constantly… probably as an outcome of the mixture of agent orange and feeling abandoned by their country after Vietnam…

If you find yourself talking too much, make a point of asking yourself which one of these is it that you are afraid of experiencing… invisibility, inaudibility or being inconsequential to those around you? Then STOP…..!

Never be in judgment on those in this condition… or, before you know it, you will be judged for the same by others. Instead, speak the truth gently until they can hear it… because these people who talk all the time… are most often deaf to what others have to say! Carefully bring them to a recognition of what they are doing and why.

I often tell my friends… “if you ever hear me tell the same story twice tell me right away… I need to know so I won’t bore you or myself…”

I love words…  I consider myself a wordsmith. I use them sparingly, because I know with certainty… every word I speak is a spell.

A spell, I am casting upon myself and my world…
With consciousness, words can be a great tool of healing and personal empowerment… used UNconsciously, they live up to the old saying “loose lips sink ships”… glug, glug, glug,… there goes your credibility…

It is only your fear that expresses through all that noise… and the truth is, if we can be quiet and listen for the still small voice of The Divine, we would know we are loved and there is no need for all that fear…

Find the silence in your own heart and you will have a treasure beyond price.
Then what you say will mean something.

Let go of needing to describe the world constantly so it feels more manageable.
Rest in the arms of The Divine Mother…
Find a place inside yourself through your breath…
Rest your weary bones in the knowledge that you are heard,
You are loved and you are seen…
